Give Clean Water this Giving Tuesday!

Happy Giving Tuesday! Giving Tuesday is the globally-celebrated day of generosity that is celebrated in 98 countries. Today, people around the world will donate to their favorite charities, helping to make a positive difference in someone’s life.

This Giving Tuesday we’re raising money for our pilot project in Candelaria, Colombia. For the 730 people that live there, this project is their hope for a better future.

Right now, people in Candelaria have to walk over a hour to collect water from a reservoir. This water is dirty and unhealthy, but because the community has no way to filter it they have to drink it as is. This leads to illness, which translates to adults not being able to work, kids not being able to go to school, and everyone in the community being impacted.

However, this untreated water is better than no water. Water scarcity has become an issue over the past several years, and the community struggles to find a reliable source of water once the dry season sets in. We’ll work to improve and expand the community’s water storage capacity, as well as improving their rainwater harvesting system.

Equally important is the poor sanitation situation in Candelaria, with 96% of the population using unimproved sanitation facilities. For most of the community this means going to the bathroom in a hole in the ground. These bathrooms are unsanitary, dangerous, and less than private. By the time we leave Candelaria every single person will have a clean, safe bathroom to use.

We can only make these problems a thing of the past with your help. All donations will go towards providing this community with bathrooms, water filters, rainwater harvesting equipment, water storage facilities, handwashing stations, and a healthier life. This Giving Tuesday please consider making a donation to HydrateLife, and Candelaria, by clicking here.

Sincerely,

Brian
